Shirley Jackson was born in California in 1916. When her short story The Lottery was first published in the New Yorker in 1948, readers were so horrified they sent her hate mail; it has since become one of the most iconic American stories of all time. Her first novel, The Road Through the Wall, was published in the same year and was followed by Hangsaman, The Bird's Nest, The Sundial, The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle, widely seen as her masterpiece. In addition to her dark, brilliant novels, she wrote lightly fictionalized magazine pieces about family life with her four children and her husband, the critic Stanley Edgar Hyman. Shirley Jackson died in 1965.

My name is Violeta C. I have been already in Germany for a year working as Au-pair and learning german. I would love to keep working with children in Germany, I really enjoy working with kids and I consider it as a reaching experience for my life. I'm open to help with the household, doing tasks such as cooking, vacuuming or helping in general with the house, this are things that I've been doing before and during my current Au-pair year. Although I am an American, I lived in Colombia since I was eight years old in the countryside of the municipality of La Ceja, and I´ve been babysitting since I was 16, I used to also participate in educational projects with children that involved playing, doing homework and other activities like crafting, painting, reading and dancing with them. I have had the possibility of knowing different countries so I love experiencing new languages and cultures, as well as getting to know new people. Besides school, I play the clarinet and I´ve been involved with music since I was seven years old, participating in symphonic band and orchestra... and my goal is to go to the university to study music. I would love to get to share my next job experience with a nice family. If you want to have some more information about how it has been my work, don't hesitate to ask for the telephone number or e-mail from the current Family I work with.

Shortlisted for the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize For Comic Fiction 'If you're in need of a Succession replacement then this tale of a crumbling English dynasty clinging on to the past while coping with the fallout of the 2008 crash is for you. Pure pleasure' - Stylist 'Delights from start to finish' Mail on Sunday 'Witty and stylish' Sunday Times 'Jilly Cooper territory with a whiff of Joanna Trollope ... a lavish saga' The Times 'Slyly comic' Red The seat of the Trelawney family for over 800 years, Trelawney Castle was once the jewel of the Cornish coast. Each successive Earl spent with abandon, turning the house and grounds into a sprawling, extravagant palimpsest of wings, turrets and follies. But recent generations have been better at spending than making money. Now living in isolated penury, unable to communicate with each other or the rest of the world, the family are running out of options. Three unexpected events will hasten their demise: the sudden appearance of a new relation, an illegitimate, headstrong, beautiful girl; an unscrupulous American hedge fund manager determined to exact revenge; and the crash of 2008. A love story and social satire set in the parallel and seemingly unconnected worlds of the British aristocracy and high finance, House of Trelawney is also the story of lost and found friendships between three women. One of them will die; another will discover her vocation; and the third will find love.

They are such fun! Your books often contain an element of faith as well as clean romance and love. Is that important to you as a writer?Yes, my faith is important to me, and as an author clean Christian Western romance is my heart passion. I love being able to tell a story, be it an American mail order brides series, a mail order bride and babies tale, or a historical Western romance novella, and at the same time bring a positive message of hope, faith, and love to uplift listeners. Are all of your stories clean?Yes, every story I write is clean and wholesome, and I find that language and sex free mail order bride audiobooks are just as good as those that include such things. I don't think that offensive elements are necessary to tell a great story, and I always ensure that I write great Christian Western romance free of anything that might compromise my listeners in any way.
